so, does anyone have a source for this
because I know their website says they don’t condone homosexual sex but I find this ppppppretty hard to beleive
yeah, the Salvation Army page says that Being Gay Is Okay (But Don’t Have Sex) which is ridiculous but not really that oppressive
They have the stance of “Politically Correct PR when needed” basically, it’s fluctuated throughout in the last decade PR-wise, but never changed in their policies. http://chicago.gopride.com/news/article.cfm/articleid/1824489/6144 2004 news by-the-by.
Don’t forget that nearly 50% of their profits from selling donations goes towards “administrative costs” while the average for most charities like the Red Cross is about 10%. (Source: that scandal from last year)
I don’t like to spend my time actively opposing organizations that are still able to do good despite flaws, but I do prefer donating to charities who utilize donations closer to what is assumed they’re utilized for. (http://charitynavigator.org/ is great for that btw plug plug plug).
For some people, Salvation [of souls] -is- a good cause, however it feels like a very condescending view of others and I’d prefer my money to go to less condescending groups.
